Background for this website
I am Tore Wiik, and my career in the bus business
started when I was a student at the Technical University of Trondheim, Norway
back in 1970. I had been a milk driver for a few summers, and had acquired the
type of driver's licence required for heavy vehicles. I found it might be better
to drive passengers instead of loading heavy milk stuff, and applied for a job
as a part time bus driver in Trondheim Sporvei, the local street car company
owned by the city. The company had some 30 trams and 11 buses. The buses were
all fairly new 1967 and '68 models Büssing
Prefekt 13. Robust and reliable vehicles, but slightly undermotorized. The 7
litres U7D diesel engine delivered 155 hp.
Check here to find pictures of
buses in Trondheim at that time. I left this job in 1974, I
missed it ever since, so the spring of 2003 - 29 years later- I applied for a
part time bus driver job in
Sporveisbussene AS in Oslo.
I went through a training course, and on July 7th I had my first shift, and since then I've been driving basically 2 out
of 3 weekends. I enjoy it more and more. I'm hooked and I have become a busaholic!
On this site you will find several bus pictures, some of
historic buses, some of newer buses. By double clicking the picture, you can
